Another version of the story is that John saw the most beautiful girl wandering through the wee town of Brora and just had to find out who she was! She was busy, so he found Heather instead.... hehe. Silly! Heather was that beautiful girl and once he knew more about her, the courtship began. It was an epic love story of an English girl and Scottish Man meeting and falling in love. The Thistle had grown aboon the rose....
